Republican Vice-Presidential candidate J.D. Vance has received criticism for his comments denigrating people who, for one reason or another, are childless, even suggesting they should be taxed more than others. His mocking of "crazy cat ladies" is highly suspicious, given the misogynistic agenda of the present-day GOP. Do he and others on the far right only perceive women as "breeders?" Perhaps, and that's why there is more to this anecdote than cats.
What is also odd about Vance is that he initially despised Donald Trump, going so far as to refer to him as "America's Hitler." Private texts reveal that he concluded that unless he gave in to Trumpism, he would not have a political constituency. So in 2021, he opted to pretend to go along with the MAGA movement, in order to advance his career. Not exactly inspiring, yet it is strangely comforting to know that deep down he knows very well that Trump is coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs.
