The House of Representatives passed a vote to divest ownership of the social media app TikTok from China. It is widely believed that the app owned by ByteDance constitutes a national security threat, spreading disinformation, utilizing pro-Chinese algorithms and passing along sensitive information to the Chinese government. Interestingly, their algorithm is skewed to feature educational topics to Chinese kids and mindless, goofy stunts to American youth...go figure. It confirms that yes, there are forces in the world trying to make us stupider.
