Few individuals have done more damage to the fabric of American society than Rupert Murdoch, who is stepping down from his leadership position at Fox News. He has left a terrible legacy, transforming news into a hyped alternative reality, manufacturing fake outrage and radicalizing many. Prior to 1996, when Fox News was established, Americans overall were more united and easy-going when it came to political differences. The dangerous narrative at the heart of his network is that anyone who is not a Republican is not a real American, effectively implying that a political party is the state, which is Orwellian.
