"BETRAYAL"

7/31/22

The GOP has figured out that it has red voting blocs and states so secured that no matter what they do, they won't experience any political repercussions. The latest case in point is Senate Republicans opposing the PACT Act which would provide health care to veterans who were injured in burn pits in Aghanistan and Iraq or exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam. This is certainly a national disgrace, but they have propagandic echo chambers in place (Fox News, etc.) to defend and deflect. Republicans have largely been more successful than Democrats at duping a significant portion of the population into overlooking its faults, even as the party continues to lose its way morally and ethically. As one pundit said, "this isn't your father's Republican party." Back in the day, it was primarily comprised of "country club Republicans" more concerned with protecting wealthy interests. Nowadays it's been hijacked by radicalized white nationalists who are more dangerous than anything else, and they are holding the "country club" set hostage to their agenda. At the end of the day, it is a sad reflection on many Americans.
