It is said those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it-it is highly suspicious why there is a movement in some circles to control what information students learn in public schools; particularly when it comes to ugly chapters of history defined by real racism. I was taught about slavery, segregation, the removal of Native Americans from their lands, and am grateful for having been told the facts. Anyone who feels otherwise should not be involved in education. I would go a step further - and into more conspiratorial territory - by speculating that the invisible hand inspiring these "grassroots" movements to erase atrocities from history is doing so to turn the nation in a direction where we could see widespread racist atrocities happen again.
