The high numbers of Americans refusing to get vaccinated has resulted in a resurgence of Covid-19 nationally. The same crowd who imagined facemasks as the creature from "Alien" are largely the same ones believing the entire medical community is in on a conspiracy to mess with their DNA (like they did with measles, rubella, the flu?). While I don't believe anyone should be forced to get vaccinated, which admittedly is not 100% protection against the virus, more should be encouraged.
