Growing up I was told not to get into cars with strangers and that hitchhiking was perilous. While I understand that using your own vehicle independently for Uber may be a nice way to make money on the side, let's face it - it's still a risky business. Just about anyone can be a driver, and a lot of the passengers are people too plain drunk to drive. Recently Uber released its own findings that it had over 3,000 sexual assault incidents in 2018, which is not surprising and kind of confirms the age-old wisdom of "stranger-danger."
