Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb unilaterally renegotiated the state's toll road contract without consulting legislators about the process, much to the chagrin of officials on both sides of the aisle. The governor's office is also insisting it has the right to decide how profits from the new deal will be spent. Hoosier lawmakers are currently looking to introduce legislation that may serve as a check on the toll road payment process. I am honestly surprised that checks and balances aren't already written into Indiana law on these types of budgetary issues.
