"TATTERED POLITICAL FOOTBALL"

10/3/18 The News-Dispatch & The Herald-Argus

The Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh have been painful to watch, whether it be Christine Blasey Ford's allegations of rape, the lack of respect between the Democrats and Republicans on the panel, and the whole thing seeming like a trial by mob of Kavanaugh himself. What is certain is that the position of Supreme Court Justice is something both parties seem to be willing to do anything to obtain. The Republicans should have vetted Kavanaugh better and should be taking more seriously the claims of the women who have come forward. Democrats on the other hand waited until the last minute to bring forth Ford's allegations for a chance for greater control of the process after an expected "blue wave" in November. Civility in Washington is what this nation needs, not the off-the-rails nastiness coming out of these hearings.
