Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly, a moderate Democrat, is in a tight race for re-election this year against former GOP state representative Mike Braun. Donnelly is feeling the heat from both sides of the aisle, as he tries to convince conservative voters on the fence that he is not too liberal, while attempting to ease the minds of Democrats that he isn't too right-leaning for them. I think Donnelly is a victim of the Kool-Aid-drinking mentality of party machinery, where politicians are made to feel like they can't vote their conscience on issues or expect voters to treat them like individuals. Braun, on the other hand, isn't offering any concessions to left-leaning voters as he believes he probably doesn't need them in our largely red state. We shall see how this neck-and-neck race pans out...
