Minnesota Senator Al Franken (aka SNL's Stuart Smalley) recently stepped down from office after allegations came to light of sexually inappropriate behavior over the years. Meanwhile, President Trump is stumping for Roy Moore in Alabama, who has been accused of sexually harassing and abusing a number of underage girls. Trump himself has had at least 16 women thus far accuse him of sexual misconduct, which apparently is OK with his supporters, otherwise they would be calling for him to resign. The bottom line here is that there must be a single set of standards for politicians' behavior, and nobody, not even the president, deserves a partisan pass. It isn't the purpose or function of a political party to shield its members from accountability for reprehensible and criminal behavior, nor should it be.
