The U.N. is calling the famine hitting Africa the worst humanitarian crisis since the organization was established. President Trump's response has been to make deep cuts to foreign aid, claiming he would use that money instead to assist Americans. However, his budget proposals cut too much funding to poor and vulnerable Americans, so that reasoning does not quite hold up. Most of the money is being diverted to our military, which is already far superior to any other nation. I would hope that the president does some soul-searching and some serious shifting of budget priorities.
