Russia is now conducting airstrikes in Syria and
sending troops to fight alongside Bashar
al-Assad's corrupt government against ALL
rebels, including our American-trained Syrian
allies. While we in the US certainly appreciate
Vladimir Putin's efforts to stop ISIS, we
obviously don't appreciate the power play to
prop up a ruthless dictator instead. Then again,
Russia has a long history of making poor moral
and ethical choices on the world stage, so
nothing really new in that respect.
America's options, in my opinion, are fairly
limited. Our allies ability to maintain power is
questionable. The Middle East is in need of a
constant babysitter, and sometimes that
babysitter is sadly the lesser of two evils:
Assad is a Russian puppet and a dictator, but he
doesn't pose a direct threat to the US and the
world like ISIS does.
