While I think that reforming the health care system and even having a single payer system are admirable goals, I am disappointed with how the Affordable Care Act has been executed. Little thought was given to how businesses already struggling with overhead would adapt to the new rules, which even offer a twisted incentive to downgrade full-time workers to part-timers, shed jobs, and lower salaries. It is an error to place the burden of providing healthcare on all businesses. The focus should have been on establishing truly affordable private exchanges and lowering the costs of premiums and hospital visits.
