This is a cartoon inspired by
personal experiences. Monday, June 24th we lost
electricity as a short but violent storm knocked out
power in about 100,000 homes across Northwest
Indiana. Friday, June 28th we got our
electricity back...the longest stretch of time I
have ever been without power. Needless to say, I
wasn't happy about it, but what can you do
except keep badgering the utility company and
live on fresh foods? Good to say that across our
part of the state, there wasn't looting or
rioting, just a lot of hot, angry people making
due until the proverbial cavalry arrived.
The whole modern way of life, in my opinion, is
a house of cards, easily blown apart by stormwinds. By Friday, I was ready to go
to Shipshewana or Nappanee and plead with the Amish to teach me their ways. I've
heard of Amish fireplaces, but do they also make Amish air conditioners?
