Talks between the Obama Administration and Republicans in Congress over avoiding the so-called "fiscal cliff" of automatic spending cuts and tax hikes have reached an impasse. The two sides cannot agree on whether to raise taxes on the wealthiest 2% of Americans. What irks me is that the allies of House Speaker John Boehner are willing to give 98% of America the shaft to either promote a narrow ideology of no tax hikes on anyone, or perhaps for some congressmen to secure perks for themselves by protecting that 2%. For what it's worth, that same 2% may not have the customers they need to keep their businesses afloat once the economy plummets over the edge
