The president has taken a hands-off approach to the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico - perhaps in hopes of avoiding blame or perhaps to defer to BP's "expertise" in the matter. But he should realize that their "expertise" got us into the mess to begin with. I therefore have to question his hesitation in getting more involved in one of the worst environmental crises in history.
