Ralph Nader is an example of an idealist who has lost the sense of practicality. He more or less cost the Democrats the 2000 election, and here he was at it again in 2004. I am as frustrated with the two-party system as anybody - I would like to see MANY different VIABLE political parties with diverse platforms out there instead of just two who are totally predictable and who tend not to be inclusive of those who deviate from their rigid and often contradictory platforms. However, the key word is "viable." Nader didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell in either election; so if he was truly concerned, for instance, about helping the environment or his other causes he should have stepped aside for Gore and Kerry.
