Russia's conflict with Ukraine has reached the dangerous point where Vladimir Putin is struggling militarily and is threatening to resort to using tactical nuclear weapons. If he does, the situation could escalate to NATO forces taking out his military within Ukraine, and then Russia maybe even launching long-range nukes at western nations. I am surprised that we don't appear to have any network of spies or back channels to create an "off ramp" for Putin, whatever that would be.
