"RESTRAINED RESPONSE"

2/27/22

The West has been prevented from responding militarily to Russian's invasion of Ukraine by the concern that Vladimir Putin would be crazy enough to use nuclear weapons. While this restraint is completely understandable, it is at the same time frustrating to watch a helpless nation come under attack. I don't believe Putin is dealing with a full deck, but the question becomes are sanctions just kicking the can down the road, since he invents imaginary enemies and situations anyway? He must think the Russian people are incredibly stupid, as he has floated the idea that the Ukrainians were "Neo-Nazis" persecuting Russia speakers. There is zero evidence to back that up. I honestly feel that the only thing that would bring Putin back from the brink would be if the Russian people themselves got sick of his expansionist agenda, rejecting it as not worth the bloodshed. Sanctions, however many they are, won't do the trick.
